Dewatering is a key technical link of sand washers, which directly affects the moisture content of finished sand and the efficiency of the whole production line. The dewatering principles of different types of sand washers are different, and the efficiency improvement methods are as follows:

  1. 1. Dewatering Technical Principles of Wheel Sand Washers

  • Core principle: The rotating wheel bucket lifts the washed sand from the water, and the water attached to the sand flows back to the washing tank through the gaps of the wheel bucket during the lifting process, realizing preliminary dewatering.

  • Auxiliary dewatering: A dewatering screen is installed at the discharge end of the wheel bucket to further remove the surface water of the sand, reducing the moisture content to below 12%.

  • Key point: The rotation speed of the wheel bucket directly affects dewatering efficiency; too fast or too slow will reduce the effect.

  1. 2. Dewatering Technical Principles of Screw Sand Washers

  • Core principle: The spiral blades push the sand upward continuously, and the water is separated from the sand through the gap between the spiral blades and the tank wall, and flows out from the overflow port.

  • Structural advantage: The inclined installation of the screw allows the sand to stay in the tank for a longer time, ensuring sufficient dewatering.

  • Key point: The gap between the spiral blades and the tank wall needs to be adjusted according to the sand particle size.

  1. 3. Practical Methods to Improve Dewatering Efficiency

  • Equip a special dewatering screen: Install a high-frequency dewatering screen behind the sand washer to reduce the moisture content of finished sand to below 8%.

  • Control the feeding speed: Stable feeding avoids excessive sand accumulation in the sand washer, ensuring full contact between sand and water and sufficient dewatering.

  • Clean the equipment regularly: Remove the sludge attached to the wheel bucket or spiral blades to avoid blocking the water flow gap and affecting dewatering.

  • Adjust the water flow: Reduce the washing water flow appropriately after ensuring the cleaning effect, so as to reduce the water content of the sand.
